Under the Microscope II

$600

Individual glass threads run through the center of cross-sections of hand-pulled glass cane, with cheerful marigold yellow contrasting with blue accents. Across the middle, more curved threads swoop, making a visual connection to the murrine core.

Description

Size: 14″ diameter, 1.25″ tall

Construction: The glass cylinders in this bowl are sections individually cut from hand-pulled glass cane, which I create by heating glass to 1500 degrees and pulling it into rods while molten in a modern-day adaptation of the 16th century techniques of the Murano glassmakers. The gradient of murrine as it moves around the bowl reveals a chronology of the glass cane as it emerged from the crucible.

Shipping is free. Shipments are insured and sent within a few days of purchase. I ship to the United States. See the shipping policy for more details about shipping and exchanges.

Handle gently. My work is food safe, but intended for display and loving gazes. Hand wash only, with liquid soap, glass cleaner, or isopropyl alcohol. Neither dishwasher-safe nor microwave-safe.

Finding the right size stand can be a process of trial and error! To display your platter standing up, I recommend the 6″ size of this acrylic stand from The Container Store.
