Description
Size: 10.75″ diameter, 2.75″ tall
Construction: The red and yellow elements are created by heating glass in a crucible to 1680°F so that it flows out of the crucible and across the surface of the kiln in spreading waves of color. Once cool, the flow is cut into precise rectangles with a diamond saw.
Strips of marigold and lemon glass are cut and stacked on edge according to careful measurements, with sections of the red and yellow flow tucked in. The assembly is then melted together into a contiguous whole, which is cooled and then shaped on a lapidary wheel. The final work of art is the result of three firings.
