The glass disc can be oriented in any rotation and viewed from either side.
Size: 12″ diameter glass disc in a black metal stand
Construction: The eyes are composed of glass cylinders, which are sections individually cut from hand-pulled glass cane, which I create by heating glass to 1500 degrees and pulling it into rods while molten in a modern-day adaptation of the 16th-century techniques of the Murano glassmakers. Blending opalescent white and cream glass with transparent aquamarine, blue, and glittering threads of glass in each murrine, you can look through these windows. The striped geometric portions are dozens of thin stripes of glass, set on edge. Components are fired separately in the kiln, coldworked to fit together with crisp corners and intersections, then fired again to join into a single mass.
