Rehoboth Art League 10th Regional Juried Biennial Exhibition

Fireworks and Caribbean Straits were accepted into the Rehoboth Art League 10th Regional Juried Biennial Exhibition, a biennial multimedia juried exhibit in Rehoboth Beach, MD. They are display from August 26 to September 25, 2022 in the Corkran and Tubbs Galleries.

I went to visit them — the grounds and buildings are beautiful, tucked away in a grove of trees in a residential neighborhood. The very attentive gallery minder yelled at us for getting a camera out but allowed us to take a picture when we explained that it was my work. 😊

Fireworks Bowl

Delicious cross-sections of hand-pulled patterned glass cane are the star of this bowl, accented with the rippling flow of an aperture pour. The red arrow decisively bisects a plane of black threads in pumpkin-colored glass. The glass cylinders in this bowl are sections individually cut from hand-pulled glass cane, which I create by heating a crucible of glass to 1500 degrees and pulling it into rods while molten in a modern-day adaptation of the 16th century techniques of the Murano glassmakers. Caribbean Straits

Evoking the glory of autumn, bold swaths of red and vanilla-bronze glass interlock at the heart of this bowl, surrounded by a sea of amber with delicate cream swirls. Windows of clear interspersed within the vanilla-bronze stripes allow light to shine through despite the heft and solidity. Read more about this piece.
